All our favorite fashion girls have been sporting the pillow pouch bag since Daniel Lee bought his version of Bottega Veneta’s Fall 2019 collection. Initially launched in two sizes and various colors, it quickly became the ‘it’ bag that sold out before it reached stores. Fast forward to Fall 2021, and not only do we still see the Bottega Veneta pouch going strong with new colors and leather additions, but several new versions by more designers have jumped on the pouch bandwagon.
We must admit that while we watched this fashion trend skeptically, something about holding a large, soft, statement companion to our outings grew on us pretty quickly. So if this is a trend you have already bought into or is one you’re still thinking of trying, then we’ve got a lovely round-up of some brilliant new pieces along with gorgeous sustainable ones that you can try without spending too much.
The latest ‘cult’ buy comes from Kim Jones’s debut collection for Fendi, ‘ Fendi First.’
Done in wonderful fall tones, this bag has been produced in beautifully soft Nappa leather, mink, and snakeskin. The initial drop is already sold out in most boutiques, with only a few color options coming back in stock that is now available to pre-order. Produced in two sizes, the medium size makes a significant impact with an oversized F clasp. Both sizes come with a leather strap; however, a chain strap with an F clasp can be purchased. Additionally, this was seen paired with the bag on the runway and is gorgeous.
Another strong contender is Max Mara’s Roma clutch, made from exquisite deer leather. Styled by one of our fave influencers, Leonie Hanna, you have to love the strong slot tab fastening with stud detailing, unlike the plainer version by Bottega Veneta.
With more giant bags coming in this year, Isabel Marant’s Luzel bag is excellent for those looking to get a stylish version in the mid-range. We also love Themoire’s vegan version of the pillow pouch clutch, Bios.
This has to be our top choice for an on-budget buy that is not only great to feel but also good for the environment as it is from an ethical and ethical and ethically responsible brand.
If you’re looking for a smaller version, then Mansur Gavriel’s cloud bag is available in two sizes, and the mini version comes with a removable strap. This can be worn cross-body or as a belt bag too and is quite versatile to style. For this reason and the rainbow of colors available, this bag has our vote of approval for bags under £450.
