Shearling Sandals for the Sunmer – Yay or Nay?
Sandals are THE summer shoe. Just like boots dominate Fall and Winter, sandals are pretty much it for the summer. With so many kinds to choose from, the end goal is always comfort and ease. We’re constantly looking for new in sandal styles to upgrade our style for the long summer stretch. This time, while browsing for summer sandals we actually came across shearling sandals. Let that sink in.

Yes, shearling, that’s normally associated with our winter coats and boots has somehow found its way into summer sandals. It’s 2021 so anything can happen and nothing surprises us anymore but considering the sweltering heat outside and the notion of shearling sandals just didn’t sit well with us. We did give it a thought and decided to ask you. What do you think about shearling sandals for the summer? Some people do live in colder regions and summers aren’t that hot. So for them, they probably aren’t such a bad idea. It’s all about feeling comfortable and cosy, and they certainly nail that aspect.
Versace and Prada have versions with just the strap made out of shearling and the rest is business as usual. Good for lazying around at home in or going anywhere with air conditioning – mall trips, cinema, friends place etc. We probably won’t suggest them for grocery runs if you’re going to be making the trip on foot.
The Balenciaga, Aquazzura and Hermés designs feature shearling all over: straps + insole. You’ll feel like you’re walking on clouds with the soft fur against your feet. Hold that thought, though. Imagine a rainy day, kids splashing water in the yard, pool day or any of the other 101 water activities that are synonymous with summer? The shearling doesn’t seem like such a good idea now!
